After three plus years of planning, we are finally down to one sleep before we leave. Surely we must be ready. We have the vehicle to survive the rough tracks, to cross the rivers and drive along the beaches (hopefully). ... It was very harrowing to watch as they used up all their water and their car burnt up. They were stranded several days We knew they survived as they told their story but had many chances to be rescued which went wrong. We heard on the news that there was a petrol crisis herea s a tanker had been burnt and it affected four states we were worried as we were to travel 786 km on Friday and petrol would be needed quite considerably.. ... to the van park well before noon, ready to seek shelter from the anticipated 40 degree heat. We went from the pool to the air-conditioned rec room, to the pool, to the air-con in the van, to the rec room, trying to keep cool. It wasn't too bad as long as you didn't move too far!
