... dessert item, that is really chewy. We head over to kafe jojo’s house. We eat the mochi. Stinky tofu is not something I eat. Traditionally it is fermented tofu that is deep fried and served with a sweet and sour sauce. If it smells like ****, it probably tastes like it too. In this case – it tastes like what I imagine grassy horse **** would taste like. 3 cups of coffee later – we head back to the house.
Hsinchu, Taiwan lhomme... LOL. We took an umbrella with us and geared up and said some words of encouragement to one another before we stepped out into the fray. Our umbrella lasted just about a minute, I think. This super blast of wind hit us and it (the umbrella) was snapped like a twig. I had a rain coat on to protect my upper body...but Meghan just went out in her regular clothes. She was soaking wet in about a minute as well. My bottom half was all wet...and my hood wasn't staying ...
Taoyuan, Taiwan athena... out. She told me that the vet was really young and cute. ^^;; The doctor said that I should stick aroudn in Taiwan for a longer period of time and get a boyfriend here because all Taiwanese people are helpful. (Really though, I think people in other countries would do the same...at least I hope.) In the end, the only bad thing besides my sore arms was the embarrassment that I had to relive over and over again ...
Tucheng, Taiwan maverickrangerRoute: Song Luo - No 7 minor road - country roads 46,30,33 - No.7 - Luodong - Wujie Total Distance: 24km Altitude up: 300m Altitude down: 300m Waking up is not easy after this slightly restless night - but at least still alive! I have my breakfast of milk , bananas and bread on my terrace. A wonderful morning and a hot day to be expected. I see Hunter and we say a 'Ni Zao' or ' good morning ' from far. When I leave I say a warm good bye to mother and daughter, and that ...
Luodong, Ylan County, Taiwan kurtmultWell followed the MRT to the end of the red line and what is there but a huge port city that has a year round carnival. Yep they have fun houses and food shops and arcades 365 days a year. so after throwing darts taking pictures and eating some BBQ squid we ate on the water. they served whole fish in tin foil and a fire pit to grill them on.
Taipei, Taiwan mustangmike979... and lighting their incense to send their prayers up to Buddha with. They also brought an abundant amount of food and flower sacrifices that lined the table. There were people meditating that seemed so intensely mystified that I was quite moved. We then headed a block up to the night market. This was my favorite part. You could see everything you wanted and didn't want to see here. I made a couple of purchases which I will show and ...
Teipei, Taiwan utexas... head out for downtown Hsinchu for dinner. We've had this trend of going to Sushi Express every week, a cheap (to American standards) and delicious place to get all the Sushi you want... about a dollar a plate! Intern life is fun and eventful. We've all caught ourselves sadly counting the weeks we have left. During the week, we actively plan our weekend trips, trying to put as much fun into them as possible. Yes, oh the life of an ITRI intern!
Hsinchu, Taiwan tingleeting... If you don't know anyone on the force you're screwed. But,if you do, you're free as a bird. The Chinese friends I did make there really crept deep into my heart and I will miss my Thursday night expiditions with Max&Cherry, my coffees/beers/dinners/movies/chats with Harvey(the most helpful person in the world), my dates with KC, my laughing and sharing in the classroom with Tina, my newly-found friendship with Katrina that was to be cut short ...
Hsinchu, Taiwan kensalriseToday we went to Hsinchu to an organic farm to pick some fruits and vegetables with our friends and her parents. The place grew all kinds of cool tomatoes from all over the world. They had yellow, green, red, and orange tomatoes. We were both curious how the glutenous rice mixture was made (this snack/meal is made so many different ways and very popular around the new year) so they gave us a huge mortar with ...
Hsinchu, Taiwan megandmatt... off my scooter and Julie going into the back of me after I breaked suddenly. She fell off her scooter but was unhurt. I then noticed my keys had fallen out of the ignition. We had a good look around but couldn't find them. Luckily the scooter was still running and I just had to hope that it didn't cut out on the way back. We then continued on our journey, taking it extremely easily. Once back in Judung, the others went off to the hospital. I couldn't go as I couldn't ...
