Awoke this morning at 7am to glorious sunshine and a nice hot day. Following breakfast we packed the jeeps and met up with Paul who was to be our personal tour guide for the rest of the trip. The Fab Five consisting of myself, Jane, Tamsin, Dave and Stuart set out with Paul as our guide. On our drive South to the equator on the rough roads we …

... idea why. Our guide then said "they have never seen a bald white guy before, and they think your funny". With this I nearly fell over in fits of laughter, Jon was being made fun of by a whole school of kids! Classic! It’s also perhaps the most reliable place in Uganda for lion sightings. However, scanning beige horizons for beige animals can be a tiresome and possibly fruitless task, but hopefully with the help of our guide we will have success. We spot the usual game in the park, warthog, kob, topi, buffalo, waterbuck, mongoose ...

... peaceful and beautiful to watch. At 14:00 we are trekking in the Gorge for Chimpanzee! There is about a 50% chance of seeing the Chimps here, but we wanted to take the trek anyway because the forest is beautiful and worth it just for the walk and views, and I am not disappointed, the forest is dense but there is so much beauty within. Unfortunately we didn't see the Chimps, but there was plenty of other life in the jungle. Hippos in in waterhole, Black and White Columbus ...
