Today I actually slept until 8:30am. I had trouble getting up but Ying ended up coming in and chatting so I had to force myself out of bed. Breakfast was at 9:00am then Oliver, Gerry, Cathy and I went on a all round tour. We left from the campsite on paddle boat (canoe carved from an Eucalyptus tree) at 10:00am and went for a paddle around the islands. We paused near the island markets and watched the people come from all directions via boat to buy their food. We saw many ...

My alarm woke me at 3:30am and I packed my bag and went down to the campsite to help set up breakfast and a sandwich bar to make packed lunches for the day. At 5:30am our Gorilla guide came and picked us up in vans. Vesh made one of the vans change a tyre as it was looking a bit flat. We left the came site at 5:50am and drove 2 and a bit hours to get to the rainforest. When we arrived we used the facilities and then gathered into a large group to be briefed about our tracking that would ...

Woke up at 4:15am, got dressed and had breakfast at 5:45am. Our Chimp tour guide, Robert, came at 6:30am and spoke to us about what we needed to bring and what to expect. We started walking from our campsite straight into the rainforest that was at the outskirts of our camping ground at 7am. We were split into 3 groups - 1 group of 10, 1 group of 9 and Ann with her own guide as she has a broken ankle. It was still very dark due to the time and ...

South of Kampala, only 187km is the beautiful Lake Mburo National Park. Home to vast herds of buffalo, zebra, waterbuck, Kobe, topi and other gazelles, this park has a lonesome lion and no elephant due to its small size. The rolling hills, sweeping vistas and numerous lakes make this an ideal spot to go from petrol powered 250BHP to 1HP, (horse power). We assemble at the stables and are allocated our trusty steeds. A thoroughbred for me, that has a bit of a temperament, Jo ...

For those who were trekking with the chimpanzees had an early start, for those who chose not too (us) had a lie in. We were happy not to have gone as it gave us a chance to dry our things out from the torrential rain the night before, and the people who did go had to have their cameras fully zoomed to see them in the canopy. On the plus side too, we saved $40 each! At 11am when all the tents were ...
