... in Temecula is expensive. Tastings run around $15 for six tastes on average, which is pretty steep. The wines were good, and the people were friendly, so it was still a pleasant experience. We tasted a lot of white wines and light reds (I really liked the peach C******nay, and Cindy liked the pomegranate Merlot), and decided to have some lunch. ... so had a very nice few hours there even though sunshine was a rarity.

We took the opportunity of a reasonably early return to Temecula to give Will the chance to spend his birthday money which, together with his life savings (!) was enough to get him an iPod Touch - so thanks to all the grandparents and aunts/uncles who contributed so generously.

Thence back to Vail Lake for an evening swim before bedtime. Another big day tomorrow, and the boys have no idea where we're ...

... considerably smaller than it once was, there's still lots to see. The original adobe style buildings remain standing and open for viewing on the weekends. They have, however, been upgraded to earthquake-proof standards to meet current building codes. ... girls wanted to do more shopping and i was interested in getting a marathon watch that does the gps amongst other things. Sarah ended up with a pair of boots that she has been craving to buy and i got the watch that i was after so it was another successful shopping adventure. The suitcase (renamed shoecase) we bought is going to come in very handy.
