Udaipur was unquestionably the prettiest and most romatic place we visited, set around an impressive lake and floating palaces. It was unfortunate that the place I admired the most was also described as the most popular place amongst travellers. Still, we hardly saw any tourists at all. relaxing in Udaipur ACTUAL from journal (March 19): Started off the day already in Udaipur, so breakfast was leisurely in the dining room of the hotel on the ground floor - eggs and toast - not even an Indian option, so I got a cheese omelette. Staggering from the immaculate train station, blinking in the new Rajastan sun and rubbing the sleep from our eyes (well Sam did, I didn't get a wink - but then Sam could always sleep on a washing line !)we checked in to the faded grandeur of the Lake Pichola Hotel. ... had enough. We all decided to go back, much to the pain of the guides, even the two dumb British girls who had paid for two nights were against staying another. One night in the desert was enough for us, it would have been nicer without the sandstorm., but I guess it made it an interesting experience. Overall, it was a great time.
