Anita and John grab another overnight train (this time with heating), from Jaipur to the lake city of Udaipur. Here they soak up the ambiance of the James Bond flick, Octopussy. A large portion of the 80's classic was filmed here at the beautiful Lake and City Palaces... This combined with a lack of rickshaw horns... plus the soft rhythmic beati...

We left Pushkar heading to Bikaner stopping to see the famous 'rat temple', Karni Mata. They locally advertise it as the 8th wonder of the world.....but its more than that. Its a relatively small temple that houses hundreds of holy rats. Hindu's believe that the rats can bring good fortune if they cross your feet or salivate on your food....eugh...

I loved Udaipur. I think it may be my favourite place so far, and if I had to live in India for any reason I would want it to be here. It took 6 hours to get here from Mount Abu, but I'm getting used to these long journeys now, my bum is toughening up to the ************* Indian buses! Our hotel was right on the lake, which was fortunately full ...

Udaipur has a big castle/palace on a hill and an old town where all the houses are painted any old colour. The only point of interest is that the film Octopussy was made here.
