Dear echo estates management, www.echokenyaproperties.com I am writing to you in hopes that you will pass this on to the appropriate people.Am now back to the USA. I would like to comment on Jackson's work ethic. Usually people are quick to write letters with negative comments, but I am writing with nothing but positive comments regarding Jackson. He is a very dedicated worker and show great integrity and tact when dealing with customers. I have had the good fortune of having nothing but a po...
Nairobi, Kenya hellen78... out of the car to walk to the waters edge given the encounter we had just had but we were told by our guide that once they are in the water, they are very placid and will stay there until the evening when they exit the water to find food again. We were told that there are no Lions in the area but as we were getting ready to leave we spotted a fresh Leopard foot print in the mud so there’s obviously a few wild cats around.
Not far from the hippos we came across some ...
... of us put up out tents, some decided to upgrade to a dorm room or a private bungalow. Apparently a lot of the places we stop at have the option to upgrade if you want to pay more money. Except when we are camping in the “bush.“ Since I am cheap and I figure I expected to be camping the entire time, I decided to stick it out in the tent. And a lot of the people have been upgrading so that means there are empty tents to use ...
Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya travel_lover87... an audit of its orphanage, and to facilitate a seminar on long-term strategic planning with the centre's director. That morning, I had been asked to join the director and a small group of children from the orphanage at an IDP camp to assist in distributing food to 200+ refugee families.
The families had been displaced after disputes over the results of the 2007 Kenyan presidential elections had triggered national unrest and ...
... was a sightings log and looking back over the last 10 days, we realised just how lucky we had been with all that we had seen, including the number of elephants. On previous days they only had 2-3 elephants listed and there had been no rhino's for a week!
As you can tell, we thought that Treetops was simply fantastic. An amazing and unique experience and the best way to start our honeymoon. The animals were obviously spectacular and to see them at such close quarters ...
We drove past hundreds of greenhouses on our way to our campsite on the banks of Lake Naivasha. Inside were one of Kenya's greatest exports; roses
Our campsite was lovely and home to lots of Vervet monkeys as well as a few Colobus monkeys, one of which ran straight into the bar one afternoon! Gareth had a great time playing with the monkeys. In the evening there were also hippos that wandered up from the lake, although the electric ...
This morning we are leaving the farm for the day and heading for Lake Nakuru to see how the pink flamingos are behaving. So we went in the land rover again and drove out of town for an hour until we reached the national park and after paying the entry fee we started the drive on the side of the lake. I am not kidding when I say that it must be at least one million of those beautiful and graceful birds driving along the track of this ...
Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya fbauchet... of Elsa. I paid $25 for me to get in, $3 for the driver to get in ($3 for Kenyans, $25 for foreigners...), and $4.50 for the vehicle. We drove in and saw some game right away. There were zebras, Thompson gazelles, and lots of hartebeest. Two dikdiks darted across the road in front of us. They are tiny delicate gazelles about the size of small dog. There were also many warthogs around including several families with tiny piglets only a few days or weeks old ...
Naivasha, Kenya ayack... people are fond of their dairy! However, the milk here is much stronger than in the US. It is boiled, but it seems to retain a much gamier flavor (I claim it tastes more like corn than American milk, but Don thinks I am crazy) so the liberal addition of raw sugar is called for. Around the IU House there is always a huge pot of chai being made for the guards at night which involves boiling water, milk and adding huge amounts of sugar and spices to keep them awake ...
