Old Faithful Bypass Rd Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States
Yellowstone rocks! So was cooles haben wir noch selten gesehen...Wir haben heute erst einen kleinen Teil des Parkes besucht und sind bereits riesige Fans. Unglaublich, was die Natur hier zeigt.

West Yellowstone, Montana, United States vera_und_alex... didn’t let us down. She put on quite a show for us! 4,000 to 8,000 gallons of water gushed from beneath the earth’s surface into the air for us to oow and awe over. It was a sight to remember. After watching a short film on the park’s history in the visiting center (while the others returned to the car), we went on a little hike up the hill to get an overhead view of Old Faithful and the surrounding area. On our way down, we encountered ...
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States flyingfonteinsI did stay another night, not that it could possibly let me see a park this immense, but I decided to go north to Mammoth Hot Springs. Now it could have been a relatively short ride, however the road through Norris is under construction so guess what? I need to drive back around the Loop Rd and remember we're driving 25, 35 or 45 mph depending on the area and the animal population. Temps stayed in the 60s riding at elevation ...
West Yellowstone, Montana, United States visionrider... breathing. Hot springs and small geysers are everywhere. The morning dew shows them off better then in the sunny afternoons.
A large group of sightseers was gathered on the road; Coyote playing with this prey in the hay.

We made our way to the trail by the Grand Prismatic spring. We were delayed by a buffalo crossing the trail grazing on the grass. Once past him I could take in the sights of the GP. Its the ...
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States 2knightsabroadUnless they are in a zoo. Yellowstone is full of wildlife and the day before we had come very close to the Bison. Now this is interesting – there are no buffalos in the USA – there are Bison. It is understood that this mistake was by the white man who either a) assumed they were Bufallo or b) taken from the French word for Beef – Bouef . However most literature here still refers to these great beasts as Buffalo and Buffalo Bill has not changed his name to Bill La ...
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States prieststrip... it kept erupting with the sunshine making the droplets of water sparkle. Absolutely beautiful and we were the only people there! You definitely can't say that about Old Faithful. The other cool occurance was we saw a little snake on the path. The first time I have ever seen a snake in the wild. We crossed the Imperial Meadow and back down Fountain Flat Drive. It was getting towards dusk when we arrived back at the car. We started the trail at 15:00 and ...

West Yellowstone, Montana, United States bonthorn... decided to take the drive around the upper terraces (no footpaths). Very disappointing and not worth the gas, the lower terraces are far more spectacular.

Back at the camp-site it was dinner and an early night for us. We've decided to get up really early to beat the crowds down at Old Faithful in the morning.

Miles travelled: 81

Total miles travelled: 4577

Days on road: 43

States visited: 9

National Parks visited: 8
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States thebusmonkeys... is the largest lake at that high of an altitude in North America. It has a 110 mile shore line and is 7733 feet above sea level and is 430 feet deep. Once we were out of the park at Cody, Wyoming the landscape began to change to rolling hills with lots of sage. We stayed in a little town called Thermopolis (named because of its mineral springs.) We ate at a Chinese Restaurant with the friendliest ...
Yellow Stone National Park, Wyoming, United States snan... The park loops at Yellowstone are based around 5 main attractions. Tower Falls, The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Norris Geyser Basin, Mammoth Hot Springs and Old Faithful. The loops are more that 100 miles long and the park itself is over 2.2 million acres, so it can take a while to see it all. Denise and I set up a place to stay in the park that night, so we were all set. As we started driving around both of us were struck by the variety of terrain ...
