      ... wet for crops. Much of the country is below sea level and water is continuously pumped out and fed into canals which carry the water, eventually, to the sea. It seems to be a haven for waterbirds; I saw various sorts of ducks, geese and swans, and some birds which may have been snipe, as well as a pied oystercatcher - I believe these latter are migratory, and some fly to Australia to breed.

      ... and then went to a bar called Pirates because some guy was handing out free flyers outside of the bar, so we decided to check it out. It ended up being such a fun place and we made friends with the bartenders and D.J. We also met some of the locals that were there and they were so friendly and so much fun to hang out with.
