... Any time your on the road you have to look out for those hazards. Especially if your lower to the ground like we are. Anyway it turned out to be a very wet day and nice ride.
We spent our second day heading on down to Illinois. We stopped in Hobart, IN to ride another Rails to Trails called Prairie Duneland Trail. We rode 15 miles through lush, green lands and had lunch at a cute place called Tate's.
... br> without paying. Not that we knew we had, there was no one manning the
booths so we thought it might be free after a certain time or
something. Anyway, it turns out we were meant to pay somewhere and
the ticket went to Rick. Lesson learned. So on the road between
Milwaukee and Chicago, through Chicago and into Indiana we paid 6
tolls totally almost $25. I hope this isn't indicative of the rest of
the trip, that's gonna add up!

Tom hit the hay on time. I finally crawled in bed at 2:30 a.m., which is typical for me on the night before vacation. Ah well...relaxation and rest is just around the corner!
... in Portage, MI from 10:30 AM until about 3:30; an appointment for a haircut in St. Joseph at 4:30 and a meeting in Decatur at 7 PM. Phew!
I have to work Saturday, so I will be tossing stuff at my suitcase all week and will hopefully have time on Sunday to actually pack and see if it all fits and weighs less than 50#!!
Tuesday, 10/2, around noon we will be on the road to Chicago O'Hare.
