Anyway, we planned a day trip out to Itasca and chose to make a 'circle tour' out of it. This would allow us to take in a couple of other area highlites along the way while not doing any backtracking.

We are leaving Minnesota heading for Las Cruces NM for about a month. Hi again :) it honestly doesn't seem like an entire year has passed since I started my last adventure. But here I am, a mere half an hour before I head to the airport. Arrived at Sinclair Lewis City Park (just off Main Street in Sauk Centre, the subject of Sinclair Lewis' classic "Main Street"). The park was very nice, situated on Sauk Lake, which is fairly narrow (about a mile wide), and seven miles long. ... Also it did something real sensible that I can't remember being done at any of the numerous other art muceums I had been to. The painters name and the name of the work of art were in big letters so you could read it from across the room. This was great for looking at a large painting from the optimum distance and still having the info handy. Of cours I always was getting up close to the paintings to examine the technique and more of the detail ...
