... were on the beach then, after about 10 minutes Maggienspotted a penguin porpoising down a wave towards the beach. We lost sight of it then spotted it standing on the shore line. Kit took its time going up the beach, stopping to preen every few yards, whilst a second one appeared and scooted up into the undergrowth leading to the breeding ground. ... it! I say run, it's more of a waddle. They jumped up the curb and started heading towards our campsite. We followed them, as stealthily as we could so as not to disturb them.

Hilariously they get lost en route and try to go into the reception! It's closed of course and eventually they start moving up through the park towards the kitchen block. ... galleries, vintage shops and bookbinders. Thames Street, the main drag in town, is very wide, built to accommodate the minimum turning circle of a bullock cart. There is also the unusual 'SteamPunk' movement here, where old junk from the past is given a new lease on life by creating weird and wonderful funky, futuristic "stuff", a real cult following, apparently!
