Old Bones At Oamaru
... was whirling about at over 100kmph we didn't want to continue driving. After a quick drive through the town and a stop at the I-site we drove a short distance to the beach and a hostel called Old Bones. Its was named old bones after they discovered prehistoric bones of an Emu like bird when digging the foundations for the building. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised with how nice the hostel was. All rooms faced the kitchen/ living room and ...
Shag point, Moeraki boulders, blue penguins
... the volunteer asked us all to stay still and the penguin just walked between our legs.

Big boulders and yummy mussels at Fleur's Place
... This is a quirky café/restaurant – just as quirky as its owner Fleur who we had a short chat with. The mussels in garlic and white wine with cream sauce were to die for……. Time for some exercise after that when we went to the Katiki Lighthouse and walked down the track to the penguin hide. No penguins at that time of the day but heaps of seals basking on the rocks in the sun.
It’s quiet at the campsite with just 3 vehicles in for the ...
