... large, maybe 2ft tall. Back on the bus and drove to the blue penguin colony in town. Very much a Phillip Island in Victoria set up. Lots of breeding boxes, interpretive displays, 2 big covered grandstands and penguin friendly lighting. And so we waited, chatting among ourselves until the first 'raft' arrived! Very small penguins and great to watch. As they were coming ashore a seal came up but didn't bother them. It came up to the fence at the front of our grandstand. ...

Particularly difficult to look over the edge of the platform, as it was bottomless and I needed to hang on to the railing. Very strange feeling. There are some really strange "Art" exhibits, which you will see some of them with the attached photos. It was our intention to visit the Moeraki Boulders, but ...

Oamaru - lots of penguins and rocks

... good stuff. It was then time to go to the Blue Penguin area. We have seen Blue Penguins before because they are called Fairy Penguins in Australia, so we saw them at Philip island a few years ago. However I had forgotten how small they are and also funny. They arrive on the beach in groups (or rafts) and then they rush to a spot and then they look like they can't decide what to do next. They then make forays ...
