... out of the anchorage took us through a narrow (very) channel between the southern point of Fläskön and an islet at the tip of Gluppö and it was also quite shallow (<3m) so we approached it very gingerly, given our recent unfortunate experiences! We had a very leisurely start to allow the effects of the rain to disappear ie the decks could dry a little and in the sun and some cloud and windless conditions, we motored the 10 miles or so to Nord-Koster, only to find that this popular island was exactly that and thus far too crowded, as the boats were rafted 5 deep. Turning back on ourselves, we opted instead to find another anchorage and we chose one off an island called Långholmen, ...

... taking the "scenic route" back to Sarpsborg stopping to see the historic Viking rock carvings and paintings which were incredible. It is amazing to see how these special pieces of history have remained all these years despite increasing population and the wear and tear associate with harsh weather elements. The carvings reflected Viking mythology stories and each carving location had a plaque providing a bit of history and background. With a quick stop for ice-cream, ...
