Aloha! Last night we went to the lu'au called Drums of the Pacific at the Hyatt Regency Resort. What a place that is! Penguins on the grounds, rope bridges, incredible pathways with beautiful flowers, statues and artwork. Just stunning! We were greeted with leis made of shells. Women put the leis on men and men gave the leis to women.. The food was …
Brett and I stayed at Lahaina Shores Beach Resort in Lahaina, Maui. Lahaina is the main town in Maui. It is a historic town with a 100+ year old Banyan Tree in the center of town, many historic buildings all with a story... many AMAZING restaurants, boutiques, shops, touristy stores, and art galleries. Lahaina does not have a beach, per say, yet …
... what seemed to be a 40 foot drop off. There were some scuba divers at the bottom churning up a lot of bubbles. Then, a cloud moved in front of the sun and the water got really dark. "Yep, I'm done snorkeling for the day" I thought. The swim back seemed to take 20 minutes. What was a leisurely scenic swim there turned into a freaked out, fighting the current, all out hustle to get back to shore. Once I was there, I happily pulled off my ...
The Kaanapali beach is full of hotels and resorts. There is a boardwalk that goes from our resort down to the Hilton which is the last hotel on the row of hotels and resorts. The resort area is less crowded than the hotel area. There is lots of shopping on the hotel side. ...
... very fascinating and well worth an hour of your time. I've been a fan and collector of scrimshaw for 20 years (as was the late President John Kennedy), so I'm fascinated and pleased by the fine history and display of scrimshaw and other items made from whale bones in the museum (Note: whale bones and teeth had no commercial purpose, so the bored whales spend their abundant ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Lahaina Shores Beach Resort
Lahaina Shores is the best!
My husband and I were booked to LS by a travel agent and really didn't know what to expect, other than it's Maui and it SHOULD be nice. Well, what a pleasant surprise. LS offered us the privacy that we like and although it's not a full service resort, it is close to almost anything you want to do. We walked to most places and hardly ever took the car that we rented. Buying food from the grocery store became a liitle pricy but overall, it was worth it. The sound of the ocean waves put us to sleep at night and I walked along the beach (just like in the movies) at dawn each morning. It was a totally awesome feeling - like it was my own private beach. This is by far one of our favorite places to stay in the world. We highly recommend it!!
Great hotel/condo in Lahaina!
We were pleasantly surprised by this charming hotel. Even though we only had the studio, we had plenty of space and a lovely view of the mountains. The full kitchen was really convenient as we were able to stock up on drinks and snacks, as well as cook some suppers. There is a 24 hour Safeway just down the road where you can purchase fresh fish, seafood, steaks, ribs, chicken, etc. Using the bbq dowstairs, we were able to cook up some awesome suppers. The beach is nothing to write home about, but there are so many beautiful beaches on Maui that it didn't matter. The marina and downtown are just a short walk away. I highly recommend this property!
Favorite Hotel in Lahaina
My husband and I have been staying at Lahaina Shores since 1996. I can't speak for the standard rooms, but I can give high marks to the Oceanfront Penthouse suites. Compared to destination resorts, the penthouses are not expensive. The view is fantastic! The rooms are VERY comfortable, having a full kitchen is convenient. The location couldn't be better, and the 'old Hawaii' ambience is refreshing. Not to mention the proximity to the fantastic Pacific O restaurant, right next door!
We've stayed in every type accommodation from B&B to Destination Resorts and feel Lahaina Shores is the best all around.
We chose Lahaina Shores after reading all the great reviews on this website, and I am so glad we did. The hotel is awsome. Our room was on the 6th floor facing the ocean. We could watch the most beautiful sunsets right from our room, and hear the sound of the waves all night.
The last night we watched the moon reflecting off the water and it was so romantic. It was our first trip to Hawaii, and we plan on going again and we wouldn't stay anywhere else. A funny story.. When my wife first walked into the room, she commented on how beautiful the view was, then after a few minutes she got very serious and she asked me "Where is the bed?" I told her she could sleep on the love seat and I'd take the chair. She didn't think it was funny, but we found the bed folded into the wall.
Great Location, Good value
Nice, clean rooms with great ocean views. Not really a resort, but excellent restaurants and libations are just next door. Quiet, but just a 5 minute walk and you're in the center of Lahaina. Walk through gate past pool and you're on the public beach.
Lahaina Shores Beach Resort Love it!
We've stayed at the Lahaina Shores 4 times and absolutely love it! The rooms are great and the view of Lana'i is beautiful. It's an easy walk into the old town of Lahaina. We can't wait until Oct. to get back there. Mahalo!
A very nice and quiet hotel. We are SOOOOO glad that we picked this hotel for our first trip to Hawaii. Small and a polite staff, the only way to go is to stay in LS. We are returning in Oct. and haven't even considered another hotel.
We arrived at the Lahaina Shores, expecting a condominium 'resort'....the beach was non-existent but the rooms were nice, full kitchen, big lanai, excellent functioning AC, and the decor, your basic 70's hawaiian style, with the wicker furniture and so on. The only reason I wouldn't stay there in the future was the fact that I believe it is priced and really sold as a "beachfront" property, however when we went to the "beach" there, we found that there is none. At least at this time of year. Everytime we wanted to go for a swim we had to trek to another resort/beach. Oh well we had a great trip anyhow. Aloha!
Unbelievable Views and Service
Stayed here @ a Friends recommendation and Suntrips Value Package. Hate Suntrips(plane ride from Hell-use ALOHA AIR), but LOVE the Lahaina Shores. The Staff is AWESOME ! From the front desk staff as you arrive, I was greated by 1st and last name and was stunned, to the grounds and housekeepers. MILLION Dollar Views at a price anyone can afford. Plantation Style and very quiet! No restaurant or room service or Spa, but who cares, if LS had them, the prices would be higher than the average person could afford. Beautiful Grounds, nice beach, Food, Drinks, Music and Billiards right next door, even a Luau ! Wailea and Kapalua can keep their $500/night rooms w/NO view, I buying an Oceanfront Condo right here !
Awesome View and Value!
My husband and I are returning to Maui for a 5th time in Febuary. We always stay at LS. We rent a privatly owned room, but all are always clean and comfortable in our experience. The lobby is tropical and inviting. The rooms have everything needed for even an extended stay, The pool and garden area are beautiful, and it is right on the ocean just steps down to the beach. The walk to town is great, and there are many wonderful restaraunts, some are right over the water. Kimo's is one of our favorites- again awsome view and value! One last suggertion- anyone planning a trip to Maui should purchase the book "Maui Revealed".
You will love it!!
