We will see bull running and fireworks as part of a festival. We are also touring the town and being guests in a members only private gastronomic society or txoko. Members are mostly men with a shared interest in cooking creative meals for their guests. Women were banned but now welcome to dine with the men. This ought to be a great ...

This region has very proud Basque traditions and prides themselves on their local produce so we made sure to try pronouncing the Basque words correctly, and tried the local offerings.

    Roughing it!

... just 12 miles up the coast. Parking was tricky beacuse we can't get in any underground parking due to our high car and roof box and the one way system is a COMPLETE nightmare! Once parked we toured on foot. the old city is really nice, charming streets and buildings, a square that used to be a bull ring, bars selling Pinxtos ( a type of Basque tapas), which they line up on the bar itself and you pick what you want ...
