    ... watching the French enjoy their summer holidays.
    Our tour guide Vincent led us to the harbour and to get some Basque Macarons which are completely different from the coloured ones but delicious. The harbour square area was a delight with the water clean and grey mullet swimming, artistes painting and selling their works. The town is beautiful.
    Back to the car and off to Spain and San Sebastian which we had heard so much about.

    ... then a swim. Check out the beach, where do we sit?? Vincent finds the perfect spot where Pascal can sun himself and take a siesta. People watching is fun - there are so many to watch, the sea is warm & calm. It was a fantastic day for us and coming back to Bayonne the traffic is light on the autoroute. Once back in Bayonne - I'm loving this city it is calm and quiet - it feels like home such a cool place.

    ... placed under a tree to take a breather and stock up on water. Those who have walked this stretch will know exactly where I am talking about. A young band of Spanish students passed us and passed the time of day with us, wishing us 'Buen Camino' as they went...

    ... a relatively cheap way to try different types of food that perhaps you wouldn't be brave enough to order an entire meal of. Aidan even tried gulas or elvers - little baby eels, and liked them.

    We had hoped that it might have been warm enough to swim while we were here, but only a few hardy surfers clad in wetsuits were venturing into the surf, while all the locals were still wearing their winter coats and boots.
