... all the tapas bars showcasing the famous pintxos, a collection of finger food items spread out on the bar. It was Friday night, and Donostia (the basque name of the city) felt very much alive and socially vibrant, as its inhabitants wandered the pedestrian streets to meet up with friends and start entering tapas bars to enjoy local delicacies in an upbeat atmosphere. (I think I'm starting to sound like a guidebook, better stop this blog soon). Anyhoos, I think I will come back to this ...

... to St. Sebastian in Spain, the mist and rain arrived along with even more gusty wind. Just managed an early lunch before the rain jackets had to go on. Just about every water activity was going on somewhere along our route today. Can't believe how many people were out running this morning, especially as a weekday. About 50km today, not a lot I know but we are still in training at the moment, seeing as we've hardly been on our biles for ...

... placed under a tree to take a breather and stock up on water. Those who have walked this stretch will know exactly where I am talking about. A young band of Spanish students passed us and passed the time of day with us, wishing us 'Buen Camino' as they went...

...we then arrived at Elorriaga, a tiny village with a bar which the boys were delighted sold Ice Creams and where we managed to get another stamp...we were lucky enough to pass the owner ...

... a relatively cheap way to try different types of food that perhaps you wouldn't be brave enough to order an entire meal of. Aidan even tried gulas or elvers - little baby eels, and liked them.

We had hoped that it might have been warm enough to swim while we were here, but only a few hardy surfers clad in wetsuits were venturing into the surf, while all the locals were still wearing their winter coats and boots.

Week 2

The second week of intensive class started on Monday. A pretty normal week...Monday afternoon/evening I walked around Parte Vieja with Brittani (she goes to Marquette). Theres a lot of construction going on in the city and I'm not sure what is being built in the picture but I really liked the concrete application with the "random" holes in it...I wonder if they had to hand place all the air bubbles? For dinner we were craving burgers so we sat down inside this ...
