      ... Apparently Bilbao is a hub for these pilgrims because I met a pair of Korean girls who had just finished a 800 odd km walk from France to Spain in 35 days, this German woman as well as two other German girls who were about to do it! The Korean girls laughed at how big my 17kg bag was, in comparison to their 7kg packs! Talk about luxury travel vs roughing it! These ladies made my sort of travelling seem like a 5 star cruise.

      After our shower, we got ready and went up to continue drinking. We saw a round of uno being played with a group of Australians and grabbed a keg to join in. I ended up winning the first round but everyone was mad because I forgot the first rule, which is to yell uno when you're down to one card.       Leaving Madrid to head toward the north coast of Spain we thought we had encountered the worst of the hills, but no, the van was confronted again and again with further climbs all of which caused it to struggle and meant that we were often pulling into the side to let those cars behind us pass.

      ... breaking on the small island nearby were neat to watch. We then headed back to the van so that we had enough daylight hours to finish our drive.
