          Day 1: THE JOURNEY

A travel blog entry by livy_lane on Jul 01, 2015

I have to say, long haul flights are a million times better than I imagined! Having never previously been on a plane for more than a couple of hours (well not that I can remember at least), I was absolutely dreading sitting still for 10 hours and 35 mins, but it really wasn't that bad! I got lots of snacks and drinks (that I didn't have to pay extra for!) and, thanks to my recent (failed) attempt to watch all five seasons of Game of Thrones before I left, I am ...

          ... just thinking about it.

And thus was our time on Isla Mujeres, diving in the mornings, lounging by the beach as the
sun set, eating cheap in our hotel or having some really yummy Mexican on the streets at night. We loved it there, spent almost all our time swimming in the sea and felt very at home – we actually ended up staying much longer than expected so we could fit our three days of diving in. Food

Since we left Australia in September we’ve been eagerly awaiting our time in Mexico just so we can eat the food. At most places you get complimentary chips and salsa and this was no different at our first local meal in downtown Mexico. The waitress said, "this one no spicy, this one very spicy". Being the semi-seasoned traveller I am with my spicy ...

          Chichen Itza and Cancun

A travel blog entry by tnanoble on Dec 19, 2014

So it's 3am and we are finally arriving to pick the car up from E-Z rent a car company. And it was not as e-z as the name states. They didn't quite understand what was going on, didn't understand the paperwork we had from the economybookings.com website and was included. After finally figuring things out, they add the insurance cost (despite paying it via economybookings full excess protection etc and we got stung an extra $35. After a good 15 ...

... muffin, a cup of green tea and a toilet stop later I was out of there and on my way to the gate.

The plane wasn't crowded so I had a whole row to myself. Also had time time to visit the lounge again where I had a toasted bagel with jam and bought back a couple of mini muffins for the lady at the check in desk. Stretched out over my three seats and managed to sleep for an hour before we landed.

The departure gate for the Cancun flight was directly opposite the ...
