... wonderful villages up near the top that mainly service the ski traffic in winter and summer hikers. Two km from the summit of Col du Mollard is one such village, Albiez-Montrond. It can been seen in the pic from the summit view and where I filled my bidons.

Woke up with high hopes of an early ride today looked out the window and could not believe how far down the mountain the cloud had rolled. Climbing big Cols was out of the question.
We took an early morning trip St Jean de Maurienne to stock up on supplies and have a coffee and croissant. The weather started getting worse so it was time for bread, cheese, salami and wine.

Right outside our doorstep is the road to the Col Du Telgraphe and the Galibier which tops out at a frightening 2645m. That's looking like my Sunday sparrows ride.
We visited the ski village of Valloire today just above (on the road) but below the top of the Telegraphe in elevation. I could see part of the Galibier from there. Its an intimidating looking climb.

Somewhat sated I took some time to wash off the sweat from the bike. I had to dismantle the front fork stem from the frame and pull out the bearing set to clean that all off. Following our short stop off at Bardonecchia, we crossed the Border into France via the unreasonably priced Mont Blanc tunnel, it only cost €57 to get through, €57, FIVE SEVEN!!
We arrived after climbing to in excess of 4000 ft at the village/town of Valloire, its a very nice village that thrives during the Ski season and relies on Cycling (Road and Mountain) through the summer.
