Whitsundays Atlantic Clipper

A travel blog entry by landellsandlads

Hi everyone sorry it's been a while since my last blog but I decided not to bother with them for a while as all we were doing was driving, eating and sunbathing so wouldn't make for a very interesting read. Now I've got something to write about as we've just come back from a 2 night boat trip around the Whitsundays Islands with the Atlantic Clipper. Unfortunately as soon as we got on the boat ...

Another wonderful swim at Blinky Beach at sunrise. Back for breakfast then off for bush regeneration and started where we left off yesterday. There is hardly any asparagus and we combed 4 sections and found about 300 odd baby asparagus. Many were seedlings. A very good sign that the weed will be eradicated soon. Good news considering ...

A 2 hour boat trip took us from the mainland to Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island. A more stunning beach it is difficult to imagine. On the way we encountered a bit of light rain which gave rise to the most complete rainbow we've ever seen, ...

It didn't take long before we found a loggerhead (dude!) and swam along with it for a while. It's amazing how much they move for such little movement of their fins, and I was so tempted to try turtle surfing - I didn't. We also saw a small reef shark and a few other turtles before heading back ...
