... Everywhere we went it seemed there were crazy day-after-Thanksgiving female shoppers. I can’t count how many women I saw that looked like they were in the midst of their mid-life crises, trying to dress young and shop in skanky stores. It was a little scary.
Aside from that part of Thessaloniki, it did have some Greek-like things for us to do: a few ancient ruins to gaze at, an old church-turned-mosque to wander through ...
... br>Make brief stop in Edessa - lovely for impressive waterfalls. You follow what appear to be little streams, thinking oh yeah, more tourist-hype, the town's flat as a pancake, where then gonna get those from... then, all of a sudden, the edge of the town just drops away, and you come across one of the most spectacular & thoughtfully-done landscaping for cascades you have ever seen! A treat.
No campsite, but seek a berth at local lake - recommended by very helpful ...
Dirt Biking and Illegal Immigrants On Tuesday we awoke to find ourselves the only yacht in the harbour. Our friends on 'Boreal' had left in the wee small hours to go North in the last weather window for a few days, they were more courageous (or perhaps less lazy) than us . That evening we went to the Internet Café, checked the weather and saw that it was going to be hot with fresh to strong Northerly winds for a few more days. We decided to hire a motorbike to see a bit more of ...

Generally, the office issues only 10 permits per day for foreigner pilgrims and 100 for Greek orthodox pilgrims. Because of the small number of permits our advice is to contact the office well in advance. These permits are valid for a 4days stay in Mount Athos. Permits are issued to adult male pilgrims over the age of 18. Young males ...
Mount Athos Greece, Greece stellios... through several villages with roads that just became narrower and narrower. Eventually we settled on a lovely beach looking towards Mt Olympus with several other free campers and swam and slept as we had done in Nikiti, we had only traveled about 36 kilometers in the day! I have to give my crew a bit of a hurry on I think, or we'll never get home.
Past Ierissos, Greece jennykelly... one in the morning. We are enjoying the bikes we purchased, lovingly called Charly and Rodney, to differentiate them. We sometimes use them to take the memory stick into a town to update this pod. On the 6/8/06 we were going to quickly run into town to update, when we noticed Charly had a flat tyre. Lou and Des had it apart and fixed in no time, luckily we had purchased a repair kit when we bought the bikes.
Sithonia Peninsula, Nikitas, Greece jennykelly... the first right hand bend, I noticed in my rear vision mirror, the side drawer of the camper sliding wide open and a truck trying to pass hooting madly. "The drawer is open!" I yelled to Des. He got a hell of a fright and quickly jumped out to fix the problem. We took the ferry back to Glyfa and drove about 400 kilometers through Thessalonika (which appeared too busy for us to camp near) to Nikiti Camp Ground which we also ...
