We'd met a new family at the lodge (the Lawrences from Singapore - their two girls got on brilliantly with our kids).     Hattoji used to be and is still home to a complex of Buddhist temples dedicated to a branch which valued the importance of the mountains. Walking around the area you can be forgiven for getting lost in the breathtaking views and stopping to admire the many miniature shrines dotted around for the avid explorer to find.
