    ... in the evening.

Thursday morning, sure enough, was sunny. Hooray! And the bus was running. Double hooray! But now we only had one day to climb the mountain, meaning we had to catch the first bus up at 8:50, hike 17km and 1600 vertical metres between 10am and 5:30pm, and take the last bus back down at 5:50. On the upside, we were travelling light with just daypacks, and we were all feeling good. The first kilometre or so was very ...

We arrived at the top, 3,776 m height, in good time. we enjoyed a really expensive coffee and noddle soup at the one station hut near the crater.

During this period, the feudal lords were controlled at least in part by the Shogunate by keeping their wives hostage in Edo (now Tokyo), so checkpoints were required to stop the women escaping. There was a large and important one in Hakone and although it fell in to disrepair and ruins, detailed original plans were found and the complex ...

8 km walk from walk Magemo to Tsumago.

The guide book and the tourist information centre told me that it would take 3hours to walk it.
However I only had 2, as I got up way to late to actually do this walk. What can I say i did it in 1 1/2 hours :)

Rock'n Roll!!!! found the coolest little coffee shop in Tsumago.

... to explain that so far in Japan quite every touristic restaurant has their dishes that they serve displayed in a plastic version (and it mostly looks very delicious). I had a menu with 10 (!) dishes including noodle soup, tempura shrimps, sashimi and other unnamable delicacy. Later I continued my task to find all of the gods, but I could not find the last one so after a long search we went back to the hostel. (Here to say that I told Beni I wouldn’t go home until ...
