    ... temps in the 40’s. It quickly warmed up and were out on a 5 mile hike around the campground by 10 AM. We explored the bayou waters that lead out to the Gulf.     ... to the Courthouse Museum - the guy at the Visitor Centre told us it was a must - well you walk in and I don't think a window has been opened in there since the last trial way back in the 19th Century - extremely musty - but being good tourists we had a look through it - lots of items from the Civil War etc etc.

    ... recovered cannon, army HQ's, the two largest mausoleums, the ironclad boat and several photo ops. You do get a sense of the futility of battle and also the scale and loss, a highly recommended visit..... The ironclad was pretty awesome too....

    So where next? I knew I wanted to get to Lafayette in Louisianna (explain at that entry), we had half a day, looked on the map and though Natchez (huh ???)
