... neat.. we stayed at about 60 feet for almost an hour and swam through several caverns. The Visibility was pretty nice, maybe 60-70 feet and we saw several anemones and a real neat lionfish. I partnered up with an old Navy guy (late 60s) your never too old... who had also gone on the boat without a partner. Hes done 160 dives since hes been here and knew a lot about the sites so it made both dives more interesting. The second dive was similiar ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... camoflauged themselves in the coral. Near the end of the dive and unfortunatly my camera was dead for this one.. I saw a huge white fish maybe 50 feet to the right of me just flying through the water. There were two older gentlemen (probably in their 70s) right next to it and definitly got a better view. I tapped my dive partner, Chris, and he immediately started flying towards it. Apparently everyone realized before I did that this 10 foot fish was one of Guam's rare ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... br>
The summit however made it all worth the while, offering breathtaking views of the western coast of Guam down to the southern island and lagoon and the surrounding mountainside. Visibility reached out for miles into the good ol Philippine sea. Amazing. One of our next hikes is going to be a hike along the ridge-line of the southern mountains and looks like it will offer some spectacular views of the southside of the Island.

Oceanview, Guam guamblog... around the world and yes walking into the Kmart was like walking into your hometown and knowing more than half of the people you see. Not only did we meet a lot of our fellow cruiser, but a lot of the crew was there also. Everyone was stocking up on supplies as we have a lot of time left on the cruise. We are entering the middle part of the cruise and still loving it. But we need to get back to the shopping. We have decided that this port would be ...
Guam, Guam danharriet... We had some beers, were kicked out of the hotel beach bathing area and ventured on to a pub, Stanley's pub that is. Stanley was an interesting australian guy and had the beer coolers accessible to the public. If you wanted a beer or drink, go grab it out of the 'store like' fridge-styler coolers (obviously unsure of the name). But just like at the store. On the front of the menu was Stanley himself beer in one hand and ...

Anywhere before here, Guam gracecampbell... which is good for up to three days; but again it varies from person to person. The working conditions in a ship implies that one lives, works, eats and sleeps in the same place and interacts with the same group of people all the time. That is why it is so important to get along with your team and get quickly adjusted to the new environment. Even more important when one is working in an international expedition ...
Tuam Bay, Guam wildexplorer... You have to pay $20 to ride a cable car down to the falls. The falls are nice, but $20???? Oh well, you only live once, right? I also ended up meeting some people out there that ended up fulfilling my social quota for a few days. The People: People of Guam are primarily Pacific Islanders. Lots of Filipinos, Chinese, Palau, Pohnpei (am I spelling that right?), Guamnanian, etc. I found the locals there to be extremely friendly. I was a single white female ...
Guam, Guam crazystrange... I'm sure our maintenance efforts are for a good reason. We pull in to Guam on the 18th for a brief visit. We are due to pull out on the 22nd, so we have to cram as much fun in to the time we have as we can. Guam has been called "The poor man's Hawaii", and I find the name to be appropriate. White sugar beaches, wonderfully warm water with great diving and snorkeling, great shopping, and awesome ways to explore the sizeable island. There are still lots of ...
Guam, Guam oldsalt... I headed there. Next door was a Gameworks (a huge video arcade). I spent some time just walking around and came to some little kids who were playing a fighting game where they stood on a small square and the computer would detect their actual movements. The kid would kick and his character would kick on screen. This was fairly amusing so I watched for about 10 minutes when ...
