Walking up a Mountain for Sunrise
Day 0 – Arrival
Late start for once with my flight not til a bit after 11am. Was a bit slow in packing and ended up having a knock on my door since I had ordered the tuk tuk the day before. Price being offered at the hotel seemed reasonable and didnt feel like trying to bargain a ride on the street.
On the way to the airport had …

After making the extremely wise decision to leave Australia 3 weeks earlier than planned we found ourselves in Sabah, the northern province of Malaysian Borneo.
We chose this detour as it is a place filled with action, adventure and exploration, and we figured we'd spend less money here doing lots of stuff than just surviving in Australia for a …

Cliffhanger

it's the only hut in the moutain, local people carry all the food and goods from the bottom of the mountain. this makes it so expensive. the food is good here. bedding is not so clean, but warm enough to have good sleep without sleeping bag. no hot shower is avaliable during our stay

Unless you are one of the few people that can reach the summit in less than 4hours, you will need to book a night in one of the limited mountain side hotels. All owned by the same company, they prices are no set high. The un heated dorms are the cheapest, and come with thick blankets (although the showers are Arctic). The all inclusive food is good, and you can get a good fill, but be aware that luxuries (chocolate, sweets) and other items for sale in the hotel are extremely inflated as it all has to be carried up the mountain by porters
