... lovely tarte au pruneau which is a specialty of the place. It is a delicious prune tart flavored with rum, and I plan to try and recreate it at home.
At the fishmongers we purchased a huge 5 lb lobster, another local treat and made our way to another specialty store where we bought smoked tuna, all of which made for a very fine lunch.

PS a very scary night. We were all awoken by a howling creature and we were so scared until it went away!! So after a disturbed night we woke to clear skies, very cold air and a clear sky. We got away early -8.45 to take a advantage of the forecast good weather. With 30 miles under our belts by lunch time we had crossed the last of the Marais. We sunbathed by the sea and had a special treat of endive with our bread cheese and tomato. And then back in the saddle ...

... here is absurd. So my first responsibility of the day is to open my (real) shutters on my window. Then it is downstairs to have breakfast. In French the word for "breakfast" is "petit déjeuner" which is no lie. The serving size for breakfast is much smaller than in America. However the quality is amazing. Sometimes it is a fresh piece of baguette right from the bakery. After that it is time to go to school. This is very different for me. Since I lived right across the ...

A chilly night tested our new sleeping bags. After a chilly breakfast we have enjoyed 46 miles by the sea I through very varied landscape - marshes (marias) with loads of oyster beds and shrimping nets suspended from raised sheds by drainage ditches - then sand dunes - and long seaside beaches to St Hilaire. Eventually found open campsite and now preparing supper. Bon ...
