      ... by the locals (referred to around here as 'The Dubrovnik Defenders' ) with help from the Croation Army to hold off the Serb /Montenegrin attacks in 1991 (several museums related to this period).       ... and several phone calls, the driver gave up and dropped us off at the "Biker Bar". However, unlike Turkey, he called our apartment and they said they would come to meet us. Our hostess, Dijana, appeared 10 minutes later in her neighbors car. He very kindly drove us up to the apartment while she waited for another guest.
