... in Italy for 6 months, we decided to do the right thing and apply for our visas. Any Italians we spoke to about this thought we were crazy .... "You will regret this, the paperwork will drive you mad, don't do it , just stay anyway" ......Just a few of the more polite comments!!
We had applied when we first arrived in Italy back in June , in Turin, and this was now our 4th visit to the Questura in various cities ...
So, we drove north and are now in Tuscany. We stopped at Orvieto, which is an Italian Hill Town. There are many hill towns in Tuscany and Umbria, particularly the former. They were built during the middle ages as defensive structures due to the constant small time warfare and raiding. So, this massive Roman Empire is reduced to sibling squabbling. But there are attractive sights left for us.

You would probably have had to have been ensconced in a nunnery not to have heard of Cortona. Believe it or not, it was already a well-known Tuscan hill town before France's Mayes wrote about renovating her house, “Casa Bramasole” and then it was made into a very "hollywood" movie "Under the Tuscan Sun" starring Dianne Lane. ...
... olive experience ,We have decided that our 2 olive tress in Perth are not enough .We are going to expand production , rip out the lawn and plant a grove ....However, When we woke up the next day ,after the harvest with every muscles aching (including our head from a bit too much vino rosso),we decided to rethink that one ,and agreed that the Re store in Leederville do pretty good olives also !!
