His take on the day (and her photos):
There is normally a very, very long cable car ride from here back to Italy, but now it is closed for maintenance. We rode up to the Aiguille du Midi peak and it lightly snowed. I again suffered from being at this altitude and was a bit "off" for the remainder of the day. This was unfortunate as we were yet to drive to L'Alpe d"Huez.

I didn't want to delay the journey, but I'd spotted those latex gloves hanging out of his back pocket too and didn't want to know how he was planning to use them.
So tomorrow, the last leg will take us Through The Alps, round Turin, pick up the coast near Genoa and we'll be there.

I followed a path near here thinking it would help me to find the way that I heard was confusing at this point of the trail and to get down to the valley. After a while of searching down narrowing paths there didn’t seem to be a path anymore and it seemed to be going the wrong direction so I turned back and went back up the hill, sat down for a minute to see the Alps again, magnificent they are. ... be messy doing 130kmph on the motorways! On our way back to the hotel after driving through a small village, a young deer hop-hop-hopped across the road about 20 meters in front of us. Luckily we were only doing about 30kmph, so we were very glad we were taking it slow. The trip home was uneventful - another good day for us and no motorway tolls! Woohoo! We won't be needing dinner tonight - just a hot cuppa and catching up on some more blogging for ...
... wandering around the old walls and tunnels for a while we didn't use our return tickets to go down but set off for a 2 mile hike down the mountainside. It seemed to go on for ever endless steps, tunnels and then when we finally cleared the castle, some rough woodland tracks that eventually put us back on solid ground. Had a drink to revive us and trudged back to the apartment via a supermarket. Having a lazy night in tonight ...
