... usually like this and we should come back Tuesday or Wednesday. He had hired a bike to that poor soul trying to descend and thought he would cancel the booking but it was his only chance to climb the legendary Alpe D'Huez so down he went, I hope he made it back up.
I didn't like the thought of descending at a standstill so decided to bail and we will go back either Tuesday or Wednesday morning as I have to climb this beast before we leave.

In the hope of getting out of the bad weather of Les Deux Alpes, we headed for our next stop near Lac De Paladru, unfortunately we didn't, if anything the weather was worse with almost constant rain for the 2days we stayed, we were still recovering from our bugs so we again spent most of our time in the van..
We took a couple of walks out in between the showers so again not much to report here....

higher and would reach 18 degrees by noon. This climb was not very long at only 14km, and had an average of 8.7% grade with a peak of 10.1%. It's a climb that has made many appearances in the Tour de France and because it's not very long it's very popular among cyclists. The first 4km was pretty steep and maintained 9-10% all the way. ... or so we were overtaking all the cycles, we climbed with them to 8500 ft, then descended with them the other side, the problem is we were marginally quicker than them on the uphill but alot of them were quicker than us on some of the down hills! Of our 45 miles, we were with them for 40!! but we got there slowly!

... s faces and over the top reactions were brilliant, way more interesting than anything going on in the actual game. After France's victory and two skunky beers, we walked back in the midst of cars driving down the streets, holding onto their horns and screaming while sticking their bodies out of the windows to wave giant french flags.
