We took an overnight bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang. I didn't realize how air conditioned the bus would be and froze the entire drive. There's either a lot of road construction going on or there aren't roads built yet on that drive. It was bumpy bumpy. About half way through the drive, we came to a stop near a ravine. I looked out my window to see that one of the busses in our 4-bus caravan had slid down the ravine and was lying on it's side. People were hammering out windows and clim...
Nha Trang, Vietnam ashley.fairon Hello everybody!
Sorry we havn't updated our blog in awhile but the computers here are not the best & we've been on the move a good bit since we left Hoi An.
Nha Trang is very different from anywhere we've been so far it's very touristy with lots of high-rise hotels & tourist shops, but we really just came here for the gorgeous beach which is really beautiful & we both needed some lazy 'do nothin' days lying in the sun!!
Other than that its really just bin h...
A short but very scenic flight along the coast brings us to our next stop, Nha Trang. Billed as Vietnam's only real seaside resort it lives up to this. The town is right on the beach and has the usual range of water sports etc. They were recently blessed by having the Miss Universe 2008 pageant in town and are only just getting over it judging by the number of signs still up. There are some hot springs and mud baths nearby, only a few kilometers out of town. We cycled there but it is pretty b...
Nha Trang, Vietnam mpoelzl... the doors and windows till water flowed into the bathroom drain. The beach is a mess and junk is still coming ashore.

While I'm waiting for my work permit to start teaching at POU I went over to Kim's School For Street Kids and volunteered to teach there. I just couldn't hang around any longer without doing something. My first class started at 5:30 pm, lasted an hour and a half, and I had a blast. I loved it ...
Nha Trang, Vietnam francesco0Well our first sleeper bus journey finished at 6.30am - got a few hours of broken sleep & had more than Nath. Woke up to this beautiful sunrise over the ocean as we followed this mountainous coastline. Was beautiful!

Fell off the bus bleary eyed & took the accomodation that was ...
Nha Trang, Vietnam hilaryramsey... t have enought time to do it at the pace we would like, it would all be too rushed. So now the choice is to be better tourists and head for the highlands, or continue being lazy beach bums and head for Mui Ne. The beach is winning at the moment.

On a food note, I miss Nepal very much, I haven't had a biscuit for 3 weeks now.

Nha Trang, Vietnam daond22... built around and on top of it are already threatening this place, which will soon become a urban nightmare. The best one can do, and may be the only reason to stop here for a couple of days, is to go diving among colorful tropical fishes and coral reefs, an activity that to me is always a pleasure. After so many 'try-dives' I have taken the resolution to get PADI-licensed during my stay in Thailand, even ...
Nha Trang, Vietnam tonicastells... about cow first aid but I wish I had. The cow was stuck under the front end of our bus... one side of the front end had the fender crushed, head light out. The cow.... very much still alive... unable to stand. Nothing too gory, all internal injuries for the most part. It couldn't stand, but the legs didn't look broken so I fear it was a broken hip. The farmer with the help of others pulled the cow from under the bus and off the road. At this ...
Nha Trang, Vietnam heatherlindsay... were waiting to take us back to the motel. Mandy is turning into a real bikie chick. Late lunch/early tea to compensate for night on the train. Only one of the five meals ordered was correct -- rather a comedy. Bus to the station and 6pm departure to Saigon. Still first-class sleeper but older train. Slower and stops all stations. Some sites of Saigon included a man riding his motorbike with a full-sized refrigerator strapped to his back.
