There is a Nespresso machine in our room so we got a couple of pods for Anthony and gave it a go. Except it wasn't hot enough for him, he said it was lovely.

This hotel is a 18th century Villa that belonged to the Porro family and has only recently become a hotel. It has painted ceilings and is filled with lovely old paintings We have a cruise on Lake Como tomorrow and then get to spend the afternoon in Milan and then another night ...

One day in busy Milan was enough for us and so we were glad when we had escaped the city and made our way to San Fedele, a little town nestled at the bottom of Lake Como. Slightly further up the mountain and a lot quieter than the well known nearby town of Como, San Fedele was our first resting point in Italy.

... and beer – and a sampling of their homemade limoncello. Since the day was so beautiful, we spent the afternoon back on the roof top and soaked in the sun while the kids stayed cool in the pool. We rounded off the day with a very nice dinner at Osteria Degli Amici, followed by gelato and crepes at Riva Est Gelato.

Tomorrow we say goodbye to Stresa and are heading to Calderara de Reno (near Bologna). We really enjoyed our stay here and plan to visit ...

... the task of packing our bags for the USA. Mmmmm... lots of throwing out, resorting and repacking.

Our final task for the night… a romantic walk along the foreshores of Stresa, a hot chocolate at a some expensive hotel and… a glass of champers to say… ‘till we come again’!
