We left our beloved botchy field, filled up with petrol and drove around the corner to Allemont. We hunted again for gas, or some way to make it work, but no luck. Again. Not very happy! Not only with the gas, but also troubles with the fridge and 12V powerpoints. Baguette for lunch, set up the van with electricity and went for a walk. Cold and rainy this afternoon, but still able to wander through the town of Allemont. A nice quiet rest day ...
... so we could do the down hill tracks. Was heaps of fun! We went on three different lifts, the last one up to 2600m. By the end of the day we were both pooped. We went back down the mountain, got some dinner and we back to our trusty botchy camp site ...
We headed towards the Col du Golibier but unfortunately the road was closed as its too dangerous to drive/ride. We headed up to the Col du Sarenna instead, which is the other side of the mountain to the Alpe d'huez. It was incredible! The summit was unreal. We were almost in the snow!! ... hear people in our group say; "today is an easy day since it is only 13 miles". I would never have thought that I would say Alpe du Huez would be an easy day but after climbing around 30,000 vertical feet this week I am ready for a short day.
