La Rochelle Motel Akaroa

... exception, well worth the effort even if we scared yourselves witless in the process.<br><br>We stayed in Akaroa which is probably the largest village on the Peninsula but this in its own right is pretty tiny. We had a mixed bag of weather varying between sunshine, snow and rain but to be honest it didn't really matter. A comfortable motel was found, we stocked the fridge, opened a few tinnies and kicked back for a few days. Marvellous!<br><br><br><br><br><br>

... some old train tunnels that were no longer used, looking for glow worms, but actually managed to freak each other out in the dark, thinking we could see people and things that weren't there, and never got to see any. There was a crazy art gallery there also with sculptures made out of scrap metal that moved on cams. Some of the sculptures where huge of giant whales - we had great fun playing with them all. ... we were at the pay booth, where we were given information sheets and directions to the visitor's centre. so we'd met a couple in coober pedy who'd told us that we could easily spend a day in the centre, learning about the aboriginals, but really, after a short stroll around the centre, which was very informative and interesting, i have to say i don't know how anyone could spend a day in there, when surely you've paid to go see the real sites of the park - the olgas and ...

... choppy and it was difficult to paddle against the current and the wind, but it was fun! It was so worth it. After changing into dry clothes, we went into town where other students had leftover fish and chips, so we got a free meal. Then, I met up with another group and walked to the pier and the lighthouse. It was a really fun day, and as we were leaving, the sun came out, so we stopped at a lookout point for some pictures.

Got down to Christchurch where my sister Liz lives with husband G, 2 dogs (Molly and Affie) and a child called Poppy (fig.1). Panini stayed a day then went off on solo adventures. So we took the 3 hour trip over the water from Wellington to Picton, which was really pretty and got some lovely photo's (actually on the last blog!).
