... Atlantic wall, field guns, and memorials. Then you have the opportunity to walk on to the beach. It is the strangest sensation to walk from a museum where you have been looking at photos and videos of fighting, death, and destruction... and then walk on to a beach where children are playing in the surf and kite surfers are out on the water enjoying the windy day. Life goes on, I suppose.

Honfleur, France

... boats. We saw one boat unloading its catch, with a buyer weighing each type of fish in a tray before it was iced down and loaded into a truck. There were many types of fish, including rays and sand sharks. Do people eat those? We had received mixed reviews about Giverny because of the tourists that tend to flood the place. Maybe we got lucky, because not many tourists were there, or maybe we were able to find the magic in the gardens, the home, and the town, despite the tourists. Whatever it was, we loved Giverny! Cobblestone winding streets and beautiful little homes covered in vines and flowers. It was perfect for exploring.

We started our exploration with Monet’s Garden. ...

Left Caen to day and headed up to Honfleur, about 60km north of Caen. Honfleur is a small port town on the mouth of the Seine river.

We're only spending one night here before we head up to Calais to catch a ferry across to the UK (if the weather gods are on our side that is). Being a fairly small town, we think we can see most of it this afternoon and tonight, seeing as there's only ...
