... colours of the trees and the brilliant green of the grass was amazing.

E failed to get any lunch as we discovered that 11:11 is a bank holiday in France and everywhere was closed! So we arrived at the hotel at 5:00 pm and were starving! We checked in and the owner kindly provided us with pate and bread and a glass of red....perfect!

... so a public holiday, hence the tourist info wasn't open but we found our way easy enough. Perouges has remained a perfect example of a city of the Middle Ages. Apparently numerous movies were filmed there, The Three Muskateers and Monsieur Vincent. It was lovely strolling through town. We stopped at the start of the town for coffee then went exploring. ... staying at Le Cairn for two nights. Beautiful setting again but the place is absolutely enormous. Biggest all year around alpine resort imaginable. The size of the place surprised us and initially we didn't like it at all. But the back drops are so spectacular and in so many directions that the big hotels sort of fade from your view.
