... girls and we all head down again. After walking about 50 metres down he looks up and can see the castle walls about 50 metres away. We are so close and all, that extra uphill was not needed. We continue down looking for the turnoff to the castle. We reach the main road without finding any road that goes that way. Seems odd. Then we read the sign again to discover to our horror that the sign says the castle is not open to the public ( in Italian ). So ...

... village we came upon San Giovanni Battista (a very ancient chapel), This chapel dates from the 1100's and has been restored to show the original fresco's on the wall, the oldest is from the early 1300's. Just opposite the parking station was the Villa Monastera which has a beautiful botanic garden. We decided to look around the garden. They were lovely with an amazing array of plants from all over the world and the unexpected bonus was that the Villa was open for viewing. In the literature that Roger had seen the villa was only open for ...

... later! Love those direct trains! A short taxi ride and we were at our B & B Resiidence Cavour, about a block from lake front. We were met by our host Moione who checked us in, showed us our room, the residence amenities, explained a few sights to see around Lake Como and places to eat. The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring this beautiful area which we've heard so much about through the media. Now that we're here, it's as beautiful and inspiring as we envisioned it! ...

... track to the car - about 250 metres but rough, a little up and down but nothing like the our track to the piazza on the main road. But it does have one very steep set of stairs going under a house that is always a trial. We drive to Bellagio because we can catch the car ferry across the lake and then drive down the lakeside to the village of Agrengo. We decide to park the car in a real car parking area near the church. It is only a short walk for the boys and the girls are ...
