After a less than pleasant night, John had a late breakfast and we checked out. Apart from the food episode it was a great place to stay and we would recommend the Grand Imperiale Hotel as a good place to base yourself to see Lake Como (but don't eat at Cafe Bellini - a couple of doors down!) Anyway about 11am we were picked up by our next driver who took us in a Mercedes minibus to Milan Railway station. Boy was the station busy! We arrived with a good hour to spare and John had ...

... cheap shoes, clothes etc and the Italian being spoken. We walked through the market without buying anything and headed off for a walk around the village. Luckily for us old folk, it was fairly flat not like Moltrasio. There was a mixture of old (narrow streets and buildings with shuttered windows and window boxes) and new. It was not ...

The goat's milk Gorgonzola was music in my mouth - I doubt if I will ever taste anything like it again. Ything! The 15 minute ferry ride back to Cernobbio was like stepping back again in time. There are ferry boats all day that traverse the lake. Some ...

The only island on Como has a very special restaurant that I was lucky enough to visit with new friends, Peter and Luana Harris from Perth, Australia. An hour ferry ride from Como with breathtaking scenery, you are dropped off to have a feast that has been served for close to 60 years. Locando del Isola Comacino. http://www.comacina.it/en/menu.php. Check out the web site to see more. Without a doubt, one of the most memorable meals of my life What started out as a ...
