We got up this morning, and it was steadily raining. It was a welcome change for a while, but as it got heavier, it got more upsetting. The drive across southern Illinois was really quite pretty. They also have a touch screen placard that tells you the history of the train station and the different things going on there today. There is an exhibit on Pirates for instance. We enjoyed capturing pictures of the pirate mannaquins scaling the walls and the huge ship out front, but didn't go to see the exhibit. Sorry Bennett! Next time.

After checking into our hotel, Exit 12 Independence Missouri...home of President Harry S. Truman, we decided to check out one of the suggestions on a list of BBQ joints in the area, given to us by the concierge. The place we decided on was Exit 11 off of I-70 and it was called Gates BBQ.
