I wasnt convinced that it would be safe until I took a closer look and realised that there was that many layers of paint on them that they could probably even have held my weight.       ... a billboard for a 72oz steak challenge, but opted for a place called "Saltgrass Steakhouse." Texas Angus sirloin beef, charred medium rare, with mashed potatoes and French fried onions.       High on my bucket was (and I say was) Taos. Poor Tom drove about nine hours, some of them in a raging rain storm. Taos was a bust. We immediately headed for Santa Fe.
      The ride, however to Taos was nothing short of spectacular. The landscapes were like paintings. We traveled through sage brush fields and majestic mountains. We miss so much of this beautiful country when we travel by plane.
