Phil had gotten me a 3 piece set of hard side luggage for my birthday in Sept. I brought it with me and discovered I could not open it—the zipper was mal-formed! Thinking we weren't in much of a shopping mood, we managed to get kicked out after the shops shut, to finally find our way to the hotel. Our hotel that was "next" to the outlet mall was actually on the other side of a major freeway. One that had roadworks, shoppers, holiday makers, trucks and RV's all vying for a turn at ...

... congested highway leading back to Portland. Dinner that evening was at The Deck which is very close to the Portland Airport on the water. And I do mean, “on the water!” The Deck is actually a floating restaurant. They were packing them in. You can drive up in a boat or drive up in a car. But the parking lot for a car is quite far from the entrance. A good deal of the menu is fried but what ...
