... hot. Morning tea today is in transit. Cold drinks and tomato and cheese on crackers all prepared while motoring along old Route 66. Next stop is in Carthage. This is a pretty little town . It's claim to fame besides being on Route 66 is its City Hall, Whee Bridge and a number of beautiful historical houses. ... who have replicated everything to how it had been before it became so run down and derilict (hard to imagine). The original Wurlitzer organ was fab and the beatuy of the place was unbelieveable! For lunch we stopped just outside Tulsa city, at one of the few remaining true Route 66 diners. I enjoyed a fried chicken sandwich. Off this morning and we found Route 66 without too much bother. Initially, it was a cloudy day but this burnt off quickly, with predictions for it to be very hot today.
We left Missouri, rode 13.6 miles through Kansas, with the best signposting and ended up in Oklahoma. Initially, we passed through Galena - a quaint little town and of course took photos with the Route 66 sign etc.
