Well, I better get back to planning and preparing! I'm looking forward to seeing each student and family (that can get up at 4 am ish...) at the airport Monday!
Well today we couldn't take off as planned at noon because of the snow. I flight was rescheduled to 315pm into DC. It was a long wait but we ladies got a chance to socialize and better acquaint ourselves with each other! Finally about 345 we were off in the air and headed to DC, which we had to push our flight back until 945 and change our flight from flying into Vienna and instead fly into Frankfurt, Germany and then Vienna. Which would have got us there 6 hours ...
Those boys surprised us again today: other than their occasional "I really need to go!" barks and "It's really not fair to stay here so long!" whinings, they were both quiet and tolerant all day in their private crate/protected 'palaces'. The drive was fast, reaching above 130km/hr in the 75mph limit zones of Missouri. We mentally waived goodbye - with teary eyes - to our beloved Islay who is now resting in a pet heaven of Rolla, Missouri. 'The Boys' have now taken over ...
... a large blue whale on a lake. It used to be part of an animal park back in the 70s, but now it's more of a picnic area for passers by. That night we stayed at yet another Route 66 classic motel, Desert Hills Motel, which seemed a bit more authentic as it had an old school diner next door. ... we were allowed to stay there so it ended up taking a bit of talking to convince them of that, but in the end, they gave their apologies and we went back to bed. But we couldn’t fall back asleep. I sat up and checked Facebook while John tossed and turned. I finally tried going back to bed at 4:30a, but with the alarm going off at 6am, it wasn’t very good sleep.
