My Background / NYC

Before I officially begin my blog - I should give a few details of my
background. I am an American Law student who is traveling to Leiden,
Netherlands to study abroad for 1 semester (August - December 2009). I
have never been to Europe - in fact, I've only been to Mexico one time
and that's my world travel experience. I've been to a few states, so
needless to say, I am far from a world traveler & this trip is a
New York, New York, United States gbliss80

... Brötchen (roll) gepackt, dazu einen Coffee to go das ganze für 3 Dollar. Der Versuch das ganze im gehen zu essen ist auch nicht gerade geglückt aber der erste Hunger war gestillt. Der Kaffee in Amerika ist eigentlich warmes Wasser mit etwas Farbe und wenig Kaffeegeschmack, also mir war der zu dünn.

In Unwissenheit der Ausmaße der Stadt bin ich dann einfach mal los, man ist ja gut zu Fuß. Man sieht ja an jeder Ecke was. Carnegie Hall, Central Station, Bücherei, Uni, ... und so ...

... city workers come here to enjoy their lunch and work breaks and chill out from the New York shuffle and bussel. Apparently Donald Trump owns every freaking swanky building, well obviously he doesn't but on my first day of sight seeing and walking through one of them, having 3 pointed out and told of a couple of others further downtown, it's the logical conclusion. One of the most rewarding stops for the day for me was visiting the St Patrick's Cathedral ...

... and made our way onto the actual port. What a contrast to the city. Massive ships bobbing against the cityscape...it was almost comical. Here I must interject that it was dark and misty...Lots of fog. We stopped and got some cookies, then headed back. We were both dead tired, but Lisa really wanted to see the Brooklyn Bridge. ... Rover" very loudly. I got some niiiicee sunset pictures of the financial district and of those waterfall installations that I just recently heard about.
The concert was a good time. On the ferry ride back, people were way rowdy and making lots of noise, chanting and singing. I luckily had a subway riding bud and went up to times square to get to port authority. I stopped at Mickey-D's since I had a spare hour. I got a bottle of water and ...

... Here's a tip for anyone travelling to New York who plans to shop. You can go to customer service at Bloomingdale's or any other large dept. store and get a visitor card which knocks 11% off of your purchases because you're from out of the country. After living in the great NYC for 7 years, I'm finally ready for the next adventure.
