    From there it was only 70 miles or so to Galveston TX. I went south on TX124 in Winnie TX to the beach and headed west. The oil wells are still pumping and there were wells very close to the beach. I road 40 or so miles along the water until I hit a FREE Ferry to Galveston.

    ... the city was like. It had buildings like Melbourne but still sort of felt like a ghost town for a working day. We found out that there is a tunnel system under the ground with all shops and food outlets for the staff. We went and sussed it out at lunch and there was people everywhere - exactly like Melbourne at lunchtime.     ... each one being about 1.5 miles long. We started with the right hand side trail then went on the middle trail. We stopped by and saw a couple of bison (fenced in) a a couple hawks (also caged). Today at one point as we were crossing on a boardwalk when I actually saw a snake right beside Karen. I said "SNAKE!" and Karen said "WHERE?" but it sounded more like "WAH-HARE?" as she was high-stepping around in a circle. It was quite funny. ...
