Kansas City is the heart of Middle America, about as close
to the geographic center of the 48 contiguous states as any major city. I’ve
always viewed it quite positively. I passed through on the highway a few times over
the years and stopped and toured around a little on a fall road trip in 1993,
during which I went to Harry Truman Home National Historical Site and Truman Presidential
Library and Museum in Independence then.
