We also queued (!) for a cafe (!) called Cafe du Monde, (which is very famous so we thought we better) to sample another delicacy of N'awlins which is apparently French though we've never heard of them. They are called beignets and are a bit like doughnuts but not as nice Imo. ... cowboys – “rhinestone” cowboys perhaps provides a clearer picture - and there are plenty of “Brokeback Mountain” jokes bandied around! Then there’s the mask – a seriously creepy, full-face plastic number – and during one of several rallying speeches from our Krewe captain, we’re reminded that Krewe of Carrolton paraders never remove their masks! Given the rest of our costume, perhaps just as well that nobody will recognize ...
