Left Austin about 10am with a nice send-off from the family. Drove north up I-35 until Waco, then turned northeast. Stopped at Collins Street Bakery in Waco and got a really delicious sandwich, plus a blueberry angel food cake, and some coffee. Jumped rope for a few minutes, then continued on highway 31 (much prettier than 35). Went through Corsicana, Athens, Sulphur Springs. Short break in ...

Drove to Mt. Pleasant, TX for a quick KOA stay. Not the fanciest RV park, but it had a huge fenced dog yard.

We a.s went to this parliament place in little rock Arkansas where the were all these funny ...

... to church (for the first time in a long while!) at Chris and Gladys' Episcopal church in Pittsburg. A lot of Brits have the image of Texas as being super Christian and the churches being super intimidating (which I think would be putting it nicely). However, Episcopal churches are cut from the same cloth as the Church of England (and even uses a book of common prayer and many of the same hymns) and I actually felt quite at home there :-) the priest was ...

      The Lone Star State

A travel blog entry by georgestrick on Aug 24, 2013

... last night I was so so tired from the previous week that after dinner I pretty much passed out for the night! After 12 hours of sleep, I eventually woke up and today has been a nice gentle day of pottering about their house and land. After breakfast/lunch, Chris and I went and had a walk around their land and saw their pond and the small ...
