In the spirit of entering into local culture this Sunday morning, we decided on a full gospel service at the very large, nearby Mt Zion Baptist Church. We pulled into a huge car park which was already full, with loads of parking attendants on hand, and quickly realised that we were the only white people amongst the thousands streaming in for worship – and apart from one or two others, that was also true once inside the huge auditorium. Really need to so some work on this and get quite a bit of practice in, but it does make you realise just how one needs to hone one's skills. But hey, next year Top Gun! Closing Ceremony of Wing Ding and we say goodbye to our new ...

Very exciting events on today - firstly the Grand Parade after which we get to watch our new friends, the Central Mississippi drill team perform at the Drill team event. But first things first, the Grand Parade.

This was staged very early and thank goodness, it so terribly hot and humid in Alabama. The humidity is quite oppressive. Anyway, the officials staged the parade with all the flags up front followed by the bikes and trikes without ...
