Our first stop on the road to South America was an overnight in Dallas, Texas on Spencer's B-day. So, I scouted out a famous BBQ place that was close to the airport and our hotel - Hard Eight Texas BBQ was it! We ordered a tray of meat - seriously. We chose a sampler tray of different meat including; beef brisket, chicken jalapeno poppers, spicy sausage, and some beef skewers plus we added corn on the cobb. Everyone's favorite was the beef ...
0900. Had a little of a late start. But we're on the road! 1120. First stop. Julie's deli & market for lunch! 1400. Made it! Checked into our hotel. Cute place! Room #741. 1430. Started our hike to the observation tower. Took the stairs up. Hiked back down. 1740. Back to the hotel. Have some time to kill before dinner. Jumped into the pool & hot tub. 1900. Dinner at Rolando's. Flaming queso & quesadillas! Patio & sangria! ...
... that reflect in the windows of all the buildings around it. It's like carnival lights in city form. I love it!
Seriously, for the first state I ventured out to completely on my own, this was the single best trip I could have asked for. I've been continuously surprised by the kindness of so many people in this wonderful world and the hospitality and friendliness of everyone I met this past weekend has truly proven that. I did it, guys, I really did it!
