... saw a couple of longhorn steers posing with tourists. We did not avail ourselves of that opportunity!

... formerly known as the Confederate Air Force) in Midlands, TX, but they are closed on Sunday.

So now we are in Fort Worth. We have a comfortable suite at the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites at NAS Fort Worth (formerly Carswell AFB). We found a barbecue place for supper after we checked in - Dickey's Pit Barbecue. The food was good and plentiful, though a little more informally served than one would expect for the price.

... help in the airport. One testy store cashier mad because all I had was a 50 for my bottle of water. It was all the ATM would give me. She says she gets that a lot at her store. Must frustrate her. Only bad encounter so far. It is now 3 am ft. Worth time and starting to feel it. Don't know if we can stay up all day or not to get on to Germany ...

The euphoria of the day before starting vacation is upon me.

After leaving work, I picked up our rental van and spent the evening preparing the vehicle to be loaded and stuffed with our pre-packed bags of clothing and food supplies. Oh yeah, the kids electronics were not to be forgotten.

... this year. Made the 650 mile trek from st.Louis to the big easy in just under 11 hours --arriving in NO at about 6:30. Had a fastener business meeting but was still able to hit my favorite oyster house - The Bourbon House - side note: Moe is one of the oyster shockers at the bourbon house each time I've gone in the past few years he saw my packers regalia and let me know he is huge packers fan- so this year I got him a HaHa Clinton-Dix jersey- he loved it and said ...
