      Arriving in LA, Jons old univ. friend Jack manages to collect us at the enormous LA airport by car, quite a feat, and off we set for the 2 hr journey on a 10-lane freeway backed by the San Bernardino mountains, lined with Eucalypts, full of cars and we,in the (fast) car pool lane requiring a minimum of 2 per car, and Jack repeats a very funny story cousin Ellen had related.....so a guy drives in the carpool lane ...

      ... most amazing part was Miniland USA. Where cities we have been to and are going to where made out of tiny Lego bricks to the upmost detail, it was quite cool. Mike was definitely in his element. A few dinners at The Lucky ******* Saloon down the road from the hotel on 5th Ave summed up our 3 nights in San Deigo. A really good bar with some amazing food at a fantastic price and so many TV's I struggled to count them all. ...

      ... out in the ocean, And on the way back we discovered a little yellow house: built in 1887 and it was house on the beach from the movie top gun.

      Ending a great day like this means we have to visit red lobster…. And we can do this since we have a free overnight stay on the Sprinter parking lot. And we even got some fresh buns to take home for lunch the next day.

      ... some of their Chinese, Japanese, and Thai offerings and they were all outstanding...I happily wrote them a 5-star TripAdvisor review after I finished this blog entry. We just went in for some simple sushi...but you never know when a surprise great meal that you never expected will present itself.

      We returned to their home for the evening and called it wonderful family day.
