Mauricio is of course on time and we say our goodbyes to Tony and the wonderful staff at the Luxe. Oh, how we will miss you. Maruicio takes us on the scenic route to the airport. WHich is just stunning. We drive through, once again, some stunning parts of LA, much nicer than the taxi ride into LA five days ago, on the freeway. THis is sooooo much nicer.

No expense was spared in replicating the Villa, a place where Mr Getty himself did not actually see before he died. In his later years he lived in England and didn't like to fly. ... walk to get there we caught the bus back. In the afternoon we drove up to Griffith Observatory which had same great exhibits on outer space as well as views over the city.
We ended the day with dinner at Sun Cafe, a vegan restaurant in Studio City that I went to with the FS group. We then went for a drive along Mulholland Drive for more scenic vistas of the city.

... and we were soon back in Santa Monica, walking down 3rd promenade admiring the pretty Christmassy looking lights and lovely shops and bars. Feeling in need of some grub we ducked into Barney's Beanery sports pub which was really good fun with hundreds of screens showing all different sports and the most extensive and delicious sounding menu. We tucked into some nachos and scrumptious beer, reflected on our trip ...

Trying to get back into reading so took my first step by charging my Kindle today LOL. Read a few pages of Julie Childs biography, which I really enjoy because its about exploring, travel, food and Europe (all great topics) - I'm restarting about half way through the book so need to get my bearings ...
