At last we arrived in Dubuque, the last town in Iowa before crossing the Mississippi. Camping that night was in Galena, IL. The next day was spent transversing the state of Illinois from the river to Lake Michigan and Jayne's house, where we are on hiatus for a week or so.
... and go back the way we came. So we'll get the train back to Denver then San Francisco then Los Angeles. And then we'll fly back to New Zealand, then Australia, then Asia. So we'll be home about September. Maybe October.
By the way, I've just remembered the name of the Mayor of Chicago. Its 'Loof Lirpa'. I told you it was a funny name.
