Today we arrive at our site at the Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area on Fort Sill. After getting set up the first thing on the to do list is lunch at the Meers Store in Meers. First let me say we created a good time for ourselves like we always do around the Fort Sill / Lawton OK area. The Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area (aka Ft Sill FamCamp) was the worst place we have ever stay within the military system. Day 1 - Getting There
Not the most exciting day, but it went fast. We left Austin about 9am, and headed north. We chatted, worked on a crossword puzzle, read, and slept. Stopped to stretch a few times, and then hit Pulido's Restaurant in Stephenville for lunch. Pulidos was just OK Mexican food, and the chcken fried steak was definitely not worth it. Onward we went. ... Thursday, the park was quiet and we saw few other visitors, there are lots of trails and we made plans to explore on foot – knowing full well that wildlife IS wild.
